You Are Here
“Through an open heart, you hear the universe.” - Ram Dass
You sleep on the bed
you made as a child.
Your body rests by the window
opened earlier today
when you knew
your last breath was coming.
You’re the pair of blue jeans
faded from yesterday’s sun,
you’re the lightening fly
who shows you the way.
You’re the storm
that emerges in the night.
Your head rests
on the down pillow,
soft as the nest above your window.
Your spirit lives on beyond
the years—
You are here.
